Seahorse
The miniature inhabitant of the Adriatic Sea resembles a chess piece. Seahorses are lovely inhabitants of warmer seas where they float and maintain a vertical position using their dorsal fin. Seahorses eat all the time. They feed on planktons or other small animals such as small fish.
After a long and noisy mating ritual – they circle each other for a couple days, frequently change their color and make smacking noises with their snouts – the female will deposit the eggs into the male's pouch, which protects them during the gestation period.Unlike other animals, the male also produces a special pouch fluid for embryos. When the eggs are ready to hatch, the male pumps them out into the water to swim freely.
